1. Who is responsible for managing my details?
This website and the complaints tool we link to are owned and looked after by Debt Hacker. When we say ‘we’ in the rest of this document, we mean Debt Hacker. We’re registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office, reference ZA465765.
The website uses Squarespace to store its text and images, and the claims tool is hosted and looked after by Debt Hacker, a limited company registered in England and Wales. We use Mailchimp to store email subscribers’ data and Google Analytics to store anonymous website visit data.
We take good care of any personal details you give to us. We’ll keep them secure and only use your data in ways that comply with UK and EU laws.
2. What information do you collect?
We keep data on visitors to this website, but we don’t store anything about how specific people use it. It’s to help us make the site easier for people to find, understand and use.
If you use the complaints tool, we’ll ask you for more details, including your home address, what money you’ve borrowed and from whom. This is so we can help you get back any money you’re owed and keep in touch with you about it. It will also help us to get any mis-sold loans removed from your credit record.
If you use Facebook, we might display posts to you based on what you’ve shared with us. You can stop this happening at any time; here’s how to do that.
3. Who do you share my information with?
In order to make a success of our campaign and help you get back money you might be owed from financial companies, we may share your information with our service providers and agents, including their subcontractors. Your personal information may be stored and processed in any country where we have facilities or service providers, and by using our service or by providing consent to us (where required by law), you agree to the transfer of information to countries outside of your country of residence, including to the United States. Please note that all Debt Hacker entities operate under applicable measures of the GDPR providing protections and safeguards for cross-border transfers. We take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this privacy policy, we reserve the right to to use and publish aggregated data to help understand how our customers use our products and services, so we can improve these.
4. When can you contact me in the future?
If you’ve given us your email address, we’ll send you emails from time to time (probably about once a week). These will let you know what we’re doing to stop companies ripping people off. And - of course - how you might be able to help or benefit from that. You can stop us sending you these emails at any time by clicking on the unsubscribe link in any email, or by emailing us.
5. How long will you hold my information for?
We’ll only store your information while it’s needed for the complaints tool, our campaign, or to comply with the law. When that no longer applies, we’l make sure to get rid of it in a way that nobody else can get access.
6. Cookies
We may use some tech thingies called cookies. These make it easier for you to use the claims tool. If you want to see exactly which ones we use and what we’re storing in them, here’s a site that shows you how.
7. How can I access and update my details?
You have the right to request a copy of the details we hold about you. If you would like a copy of some or all of your personal information, please email us.
We want to make sure that your details are accurate and up to date. You can ask us to fix or remove any information you think is wrong.
8. Does this privacy policy apply to linked websites?
This site contains links to other websites. This privacy policy only applies to this website and the complaints tool. When you click through to other websites, their own policies apply. So it’s best to read those as well.
9. How often do you update this privacy policy?
We review this policy every year or when we make big changes to the details we collect. If and when we do, we’ll place any updates here.
